WELCOME

Welcome to My Creative Corner! I’m so glad you’re here!

I’m Angela McPherson, a fiber artist who loves turning thread, fabric, and color into expressive works of art. This is where I share my passion for fiber art, creative play, and all the joy that comes with stitching something from the heart. I love combining thread sketching and watercolor on fabric, then building on those ideas with quilting, appliqué, and a healthy dose of experimentation.

Teaching and encouraging others to explore their own creative voice is one of my favorite parts of what I do. Whether you’re a seasoned maker or just getting started, you’re welcome here.

Take a look around, get inspired, and don’t be afraid to try something new.

Let’s create something beautiful together!

Creative Threads: Thread-Sketching for Beginners

Join me for a welcoming and confidence-building class where you’ll learn how to draw with thread using your sewing machine. Together, we’ll explore how simple stitches can create line, texture, and movement—opening the door to expressive, creative stitching.

We’ll begin with the foundations of thread sketching, including machine setup, materials, and basic free-motion techniques. From there, you’ll practice creating lines, shapes, and textures that build control and comfort at the machine. These skills form the building blocks for thread sketching portraits, animals, and art quilts.

What makes my class different:
✨ I teach thread sketching as a drawing tool, not just a quilting technique.
✨ You’ll explore how stitch length, direction, blending, and techniques such as Whimsical, On-Point, Short Spurts, and

Zig Zag stitching combines to add depth and expressive detail.
✨ My lessons are relaxed, encouraging, and beginner-friendly—perfect for quilters and curious stitchers alike.

Creative Threads: Thread-Sketching Appliqué

Join me for a creative and inspiring class where appliqué and thread sketching come together to add depth, texture, and personality to your fabric art. This class builds on basic thread sketching skills and focuses on using stitching to enhance appliqué rather than overpower it.

We’ll explore how stitch direction, blending, and techniques like Whimsical, On-Point, Short Spurts, and zigzag stitching can define edges, add shading, and bring appliqué shapes to life. You’ll learn how thoughtful stitching choices can transform flat shapes into expressive, dimensional designs—perfect for art quilts, wall pieces, and small creative projects.

This class is ideal for students who have taken the Basics class or have some machine stitching experience and are ready to elevate their appliqué with artistic threadwork.

🎨 Watercolor Pencils on Fabric Class

Join me for a fun and inspiring class where you’ll learn how to bring your fabric art to life using watercolor pencils and pencil sketching techniques. Together, we’ll explore how to blend color and detail with tools and methods that work beautifully on fabric.

We’ll begin with the foundations of applying watercolor pencils to fabric, learning how blending, layering, and shading can create depth and vibrancy. Then you’ll put your new skills into practice by painting floral designs and a charming bird illustration—projects that can easily be transformed into greeting cards, ornaments, or art quilts.

What makes my class different:
✨ I teach with a fiber artist’s eye—every technique is tailored for fabric and art quilts, not paper.
✨ You’ll learn how watercolor behaves on fabric, how to layer, blend, and control color, and how to seal it for long-lasting results.
✨ My lessons are relaxed, encouraging, and beginner-friendly, designed for quilters, fabric painters, and creative explorers alike.
